A Great Mix

Kids and animals – what a great mix. Kids seem always drawn to animals and animals seem to enjoy their attention. One of the littler known facts about the Fortress is that we have animals here, much to the delight of kids and adults both. In addition to Honey, our Belgian draft horse, there is Lily the Great Pyrenees dog who guards the sheep at night, Maurice and Martin, our two donkeys, and our four sheep who provide the wool for the spinning, dyeing, weaving and felting that goes on in our textile hut. Guests enjoy feeding these four fleecey gals, who have become quite the little spoiled beggers now that they know guests come bearing gifts! Kristin from Texas, shown here being heartily welcomed by our ewes, said feeding was one of the highlights of her visit.
