It isn’t unusual for the castle staff to talk to students of all ages. Many of our visitors are school groups ranging in age from kindergarteners through elderhostelers, usually on a group field trip. Occasionally though, we run across a student of a different kind… someone who has chosen the castle independently to further their knowledge or to showcase what we do. Such is the case with Travis Harris of Harrison and Meagan Nutter of Lead Hill. Students of NorthArk Community College in Harrison, AR, they chose a project topic that made the castle a perfect living laboratory. With camera in hand, the two students set about the task of documenting the dying arts of blacksmithing, weaving and stone masonry. After 821 pictures and several hours of wandering the castle grounds , the two have quite a portfolio of photographs that easily fulfill their challenge. With the goal of bringing these dying arts to the forefront, Travis and Megan generously shared their labors with us and we are so pleased that they did. We’re certain you will agree.
