“Chase”ing a Medieval Dream

When one has a passion for medieval history and would rather be a participant than a spectator when it comes to book knowledge, what should a struggling history student do? Join the crew that’s building a medieval castle, of course! Chase Shaffar-Roggeveen recently brought his talents as a blacksmith to the Ozark Medieval Fortress. Currently on a brief leave from the University of Chicago, Chase has a keen interest in material culture which are the items seen and used in daily life. As a medieval buff, he has brought his love of history and medieval culture to the artisans and workers here at the fortress. Sharing his knowledge about clothing, illumination, and most especially smithing, Chase has been a huge asset to the site. We are fortunate that Chase has decided to stay with us until the end of the season which gives people a wonderful opportunity to come by and see all that he has to offer us here at Ozark Medieval Fortress. But time is running short! Our season is set to close on November 21.
