It Takes a Village...
We’ve all heard it a thousand times but this time we really mean it! In order to have the many things needed to build a castle, “it takes a village” to get that done. Since the beginning, the workers have good naturedly bartered with each other for services that they needed such as a new tunic for a load of firewood or cookies for a hoe handle. Recently though, a milestone was reached when the first authentic mortar basket was completed by our basketmaker Janell. With the assistance of the master carpenter Juan, who made the hand hewn supports for the base, the large round willow basket is ready to be put to good use by the stone masons. Truly this is another example of how the workers of the Ozark Medieval Fortress know how to work together to get things done. We are still wondering, though, how many cookies are in for Juan…
