Kiln Progress

Mitch Potter has been diligent in building the kiln here at the Fortress. Starting from scratch, he has dug, hauled and mixed to get the kiln ready for firing pots, mugs and tile (for the roof). Did you know that although we will not need the roof tiles until our twelfth year, Mitch and the other potters will begin making the tile in our 2nd year (2011) so there are enough when we need them? They will be fired in this amazing kiln. Mitch is putting the clay he mixed on the rock service, which works like insulation to hold the heat in from the fire.
