Our Animals have a GREAT Vacation Package!

With the site closed down, many of our visitors are certainly wondering what has become of the castle animals. Fear not for they have all been given paid vacations! Our animals are major players in the success of the castle so we wanted to make sure they each had a restful and well deserved vacation. Our sheep (Saint Joan, Jules, Babs and Noemi) have been taken to a nearby sheep farm where they had lived prior to joining us. They are visiting with 65 of their closest friends and relatives, eating sweet feed, grazing large pastures and otherwise having a wonderful time. Their guardian and protector, Lily (Fleur de Lys) has decided that she likes being a southern belle in the state of Mississippi. Her friend Catherine the wise women packed plenty of Alpo and Purina and made her a wonderful bed of handwoven cloth for the 7 hour trip. She is now enjoying long walks in the city and playing with her new shepherd friend, Matisse. The donkeys Maurice and Martin, as well as the beautiful Belgian Honey Deux, are spending some time just up the hill from the castle where they are awaiting a leisurely stroll a few miles down the road to Jacob’s farm. Here they will roam with the cattle feasting on winter grasses and hay. And then there is Honey…the horse that started it all for us! Honey has been retired from service after serving so faithfully for the first year of construction. She has found a wonderful home where she is brushed daily and is enjoying the life of a pampered pet. So, just like their two-legged co-workers, the animals of the fortress are taking this time to rest up and prepare for the next season of construction and excitement. There will be much new activity (and maybe a few new four-legged additions) in the coming year and the animals will, as always, be at the heart of it!
