A big step forward on the castle project took place over the weekend. The crew began putting in the scaffolding so work can proceed on the height of the Horseshoe Tower. The wooden brackets are placed on the wall with brackets holding them in place. The ends that will be inside the wall are wrapped in paper to soak up the moisture so the wood doesn’t rot. The scaffolding will be removed as the tower rises, leaving holes behind where the wood used to be. Next, rocks are mortered in over the wooden pieces to hold the framework in place. A platform of boards will be attached to this framework for the workers to stand on. Master Mason Franck has warned the masons to not overload this platform by using it like a loading dock for heavy stones awaiting placement in the wall. Here you see Franck, Team Leader Billy and Kirk beginning the process of placing the frameword, which will go around the wall. Honey looks on from the ground.
