The Prince of Magic

Merlin may have been the magician of choice for King Arthur, but the Ozark Medieval Fortress has a very magical presence as well.

As guests enter the visitor center, they are greeted by the incredibly alluring smile of Branson magician Kirby VanBurch…or are they? He looks like the world-renowned magician who starred in the NBC tv show “Worlds Greatest Magic”, but then again he was spotted wearing the King’s crown with his sword close by his side prepared to fend off all intruders.

On another glance, he has also been seen resembling the daring young gentleman from Sherwood Forest, none other than the elusive Robin Hood! But, as visitors curiously walk closer, the master magician quickly transforms into a cardboard replica of the “Prince of Magic”. So who is this persona, this enigma, this master of disguise and illusion? This was a question that could only be answered with a little bit of detective work outside the fortress confines of the 13th century! To unravel this illusion of being in two places at the same time, one must take a trip to the Kirby VanBurch Theater on Highway 248 in Branson.

Performing in Branson for over 20 years, VanBurch is a staple for family entertainment in the Ozarks by incorporating the use of white tigers, spirited dance routines, and even a helicopter into a two-hour long experience that can only be described as “magical”. With the assistance of his beautiful wife Bambi, an accomplished magician in her own right, and a cast of several talented performers, the Kirby VanBurch Show has continually pleased audiences earning it the title of “Best Branson Show”. It was obvious during the show that the man seen walking on stage and wittily bantering with the audience was certainly not the same cardboard Robin Hood that greets the visitors at the castle.

So just how does he transform himself from one place to the other? Perhaps you, too, should attend the Kirby VanBurch Theater and just maybe you can figure it out…after all, Robin Hood wasn’t doing any talking!

The Kirby VanBurch show can be seen at 2353 Hwy 248 in Branson. For ticket information or other questions call (417)337-7140 or visit their website
