Stone carvers of the future? Perhaps! These three young men were recent participants of the very first Ozark Medieval Fortress stone carving contest and each emerged a winner. Using an authentic hand forged chisel and mallet, participants were challenged to create a work of art from a 2“x5“x7” piece of limestone. The results were as varied as the carvers. With some using templates provided by the castle and others venturing into their own creativity, carvers chipped away at the stones allowing images of everything from crosses to coyotes to emerge.
In the Youth Division, these three brothers walked away with the top prizes. Pictured left to right are Christian, Gabe and Silas Plaster from Branson, MO showing off their handiwork. Winners in the adult division were Joshua Patrick, 1st; Beth Mason, 2nd; and Shande Patrick, 3rd. Congratulations to all of these winners… we expect to see you soon working on the wall!
