A new year at the castle has brought along with it a few new faces of the four-legged variety! If you follow our blogs, you may recall that the animals were all given vacations for the winter with the one exception being our first draft horse “Honey”. Honey was retired to the well-deserved life of a pleasure horse which means that her second in command, “Honey Deux”, has saddled up to the number one position. Also returning are the ever popular donkeys Martin and Maurice and the watchful guard dog Lily. The four sheep at the wool cottage have been replaced with two motley ewes, Provence and Bretagne who are settling into the routine along with a wonderful new ram, Garçon who was donated to the castle from the Chad Keafer family of Omaha. There have also been a few baby lamb sightings and the possibility of another one on the way! Lily’s best friend Matisse has joined her at the castle on a trial basis. Hopefully he will soon be able to demonstrate the use of the medieval dog cart which was a large part of the middle ages. There is talk of a few other “creature comforts” to make an appearance later in the year so don’t miss an opportunity to come by and welcome our newest workers. They’d love to introduce themselves!
